MithR: "There's a sense of individual responsibility in Liquid"

The newly appointed coach of Liquid, Torbjørn "mithR" Nyborg, discussed how he ended up with the Dutch club. In an interview with dust2.dk, the Danish esports professional admitted that he had other plans and did not expect to receive an invitation from Liquid.

"No, I didn’t expect it. It’s a bit of a funny story.

I had reached out to a few schools because I thought I would be coaching a team and perhaps pursue some studies. Otherwise, I was hoping to possibly take on a role as a sports director – maybe in a Danish club. There were some opportunities. There were also possibilities for coaching roles, but I felt that I had the experience and age to try managing a club as a sports director. I had also negotiated my contracts multiple times throughout my career and had learned from those experiences, so I thought it would be interesting to sit in the club’s chair and handle negotiations.

And then Liquid contacted me."

Nyborg also shared his impressions of working with the Liquid players. mithR highlighted the high level of discipline and sense of responsibility within the team.

"It’s fun, exciting, and incredibly educational. It’s very pleasant to work with players who have such high discipline. You’re working with players who know what it takes to compete with the best of the best. It’s not that this wasn’t the case in Apeks, but in Liquid, there is a sense of individual responsibility that I’ve never experienced before."

As a reminder, at the end of June this year, Wilton "zews" Prado was removed from his position as Liquid’s coach. He was replaced by mithR. The team also signed Justin "jks" Savage and Roland "ultimate" Tomkovjak, who replaced Kasper "cadiaN" Møller and Felipe "skullz" Medeiros.
