MithR suggested that the player could become one of the best leaders in esports

In an interview with HLTV, Liquid's new head coach, Torbjørn “mithR” Nyborg, lauded Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken, expressing his belief that the Canadian player has the potential to become one of the most exceptional leaders in the history of the game. Twistzz has taken on the team captain role following an off-season overhaul that saw cadiaN, skullz, and head coach zews depart.

This marks Twistzz's first stint as team captain, raising questions about how the new role might impact a player at the peak of his career. MithR admitted he initially had reservations about Twistzz's appointment but is now impressed by how naturally the role suits him.

“When I first learned he was to be captain, I felt some apprehension and wasn’t certain it was the best decision. However, after working with Twistzz for three weeks, I now believe he has the potential to become one of the greatest leaders we have ever seen.”

The decision to bring in Roland “ultimate” Tomkowiak as Liquid's new sniper is seen as a significant gamble. The Polish player has yet to compete at the highest level, and the forthcoming BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2024 will be just his second LAN tournament.

MithR acknowledges the uncertainty surrounding ultimate but commends Twistzz for his role in scouting the Polish talent.

“Seeing his demos was very encouraging. His mechanical skills are impressive. Only time will reveal if he is ready for tier 1 competition.”

Liquid has been placed in Group D of the BLAST Premier Fall Groups, alongside NAVI, BIG, and Virtus.pro. Wednesday’s match against Virtus.pro will mark jks' first official game in ten months, with mithR noting that the Australian is still working to regain his peak form.

“In the first two weeks, his performance has significantly improved. It’s great that he is maintaining his level. He is well-versed in CS2, having played extensively on FACEIT, but playing within a team is a different challenge. Based on what I’ve observed, his progress over the last two weeks has been very positive.”
