One of the developers from the anti-cheat company Akros has provided new details regarding the ban on Joel "joel" Holmund. According to the developer, the banned software found on the Swedish esports player's computer includes elements such as Wallhack, Aimbot, and Triggerbot.
When properly configured, the cheat is almost impossible to detect with the naked eye. The programme is sold freely and starts before the operating system boots up, only being disabled by a system reboot. The Akros representative also mentioned that such a cheat is difficult to detect, so joel could have been using it up until August 4.
The 19-year-old player categorically denies any wrongdoing and insists he has never used third-party software. joel speculated that his ban might be related to an Akros update that occurred on the same day.
“There is no sense in cheating now when I finally have a chance to redeem myself. I have more motivation than ever to play Counter-Strike and compete. My goal is to reach the highest level on the scene, and with all the resources I have with this team, it makes no sense to risk losing it all over cheats.
I hope this situation gets resolved, since I have never cheated, despite what some people claim. I still love playing and hope to continue doing so in some way.”
The Akros representative added that the ban is permanent and non-reviewable. Consequently, the player will not be able to compete in events using Akros anti-cheat.
Previously, BC.Game released another official statement regarding joel's situation. The BC.Game management has decided not to reinstate joel in the roster and instead will begin searching for a permanent replacement.
