Jame on the excitement of LAN tournaments
Jami "Jame" Ali, the captain of Virtus.pro's Counter-Strike 2 team, shared insights on whether he experiences stress and nerves during official LAN matches. The Russian esports player spoke about this during a personal stream on Twitch, explaining that certain factors can disrupt composure.
Jame noted that he hasn't felt his heart racing for a long time, although it did happen earlier in his career. He admitted there is still some nervousness, pointing out that conditions in arenas can be cold, unlike the controlled environment of a room, which adds stress and can disrupt one's usual state.
He elaborated that being a core player also adds pressure, especially when he feels he underperforms or misses opportunities to make a kill. The added responsibility of being a captain further compounds the stress. However, he emphasised that while stress exists, it is minimal and doesn't affect his ability to stay in control or speak clearly—something that only affected him in the early stages of his career.
Previously, during another Twitch stream, Jame briefly commented on the return of Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev to the professional Counter-Strike 2 scene after a period of inactivity. Jame observed that s1mple currently appears to be in good form.
