Virtus.pro player Denis "electroNic" Sharipov reflected on his team's performance at the BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024 championship in Serbia. According to Sharipov, he and his teammates will continue working in the same manner – they just need more time to get into shape. The player shared these thoughts in a vlog from the championship.
"I think we lost some crucial rounds [on Vertigo against Falcons]. <...> Honestly, I'm still finding my game on this map. It may take a long time, but we're really trying and working. Maybe we just didn't wake up, didn't get into it. But then, I think we caught that wave. And on Ancient, we actually gave away a lot of crucial rounds that we shouldn't have.
We don't have much experience playing with each other – it's only our second tournament. And there's really a lot for us to work on, and it's important to just understand that these are workable moments. We need to keep striving to work in the same way we do. It just takes a little time, perhaps, to feel each other out more. I think we have room to grow in all aspects. Probably more in terms of teamwork, communication."
Team Captain Jame also shared his thoughts on the matter. Jame believes that changes in the map pool were one of the factors contributing to the team's less successful performance at the championship.
"The results are not comforting. We won the first match against the Falcons, it was easy at first, then MOUZ – it became difficult. And the third one again against Falcons – we should have won on paper, but the map pool and the lack of training days make themselves felt because we are trying to find our game. We could have struggled. <...>
We have about a week until IEM Dallas 2024, I don't know about the rest – how much there will be and if there will be any, but we'll have to close the maps. In addition to all the replacements, restructuring, changing roles, decision-making, and so on, we also have a new map, Dust2, that we need to discuss. There's not enough time, not enough hands to do everything. We need to forecast smartly, what opponents will be, what maps will be, and focus on the right things."
Virtus.pro finished 5-6th at BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024 and did not receive any prize money for participating. The team ended the group stage of the tournament in third place and did not advance to the playoffs.
