isak: "We don't consider ourselves a Swedish team, but it's nice to represent this flag"

The newly signed member of NIP, Isak "isak" Fahlén, shared in an interview with HLTV the circumstances under which he left his previous team, GamerLegion, and joined NIP. According to Fahlén, he became disillusioned with GamerLegion after numerous roster changes.

"My contract was coming to an end, and I was exploring various options. All these changes started to affect me, and I always felt like we took a step back, then a few steps forward, only to step back again because of roster changes.

As my contract was nearing its end, I talked to GamerLegion but also looked at different opportunities and offers, and I decided to go with NIP.

Everything happened quite quickly. I signed the contract during EPL, but the whole team already knew it was my last tournament.

We just played as usual, and I think we performed quite well at that tournament with GamerLegion. The announcement about me came out the day after we got eliminated, while I was at the airport, so it all happened very fast. I think it was necessary."

Isak also discussed whether it matters to him that he is now playing for a Swedish organization alongside his fellow countrymen.

"NIP has been a benchmark for me since I started playing. Honestly, it doesn’t matter much that we have the Swedish flag. I think with the flag, we now have more Swedish fans, but we are still an international team. We don't see ourselves as a Swedish team, and it doesn’t feel that way, but it’s nice to represent this flag."

Fahlén’s team will face The MongolZ in the final of YaLLa Compass 2024, held in the UAE capital. In the second round of the playoffs, NIP defeated FURIA 2-0.
