Skin creator KR1ZER has revealed the earnings that community map authors will receive for their maps, which were added to Counter-Strike 2 in today's update. He shared this information on his Telegram channel.
According to KR1ZER, Valve had pre-negotiated with the map creators the amounts that would be paid for each day their maps are featured in the game. As a result, the authors will earn between $20,000 and $50,000.
"In reality, only two maps were bought for $150,000 – Anubis and Tuscan. This is because Valve has specific plans for them (such as adding Anubis to the competitive map pool).
The maps that were accepted today will earn a daily income, which was pre-agreed with the mapmakers (hence the information about these maps being added was leaked in advance).
The amounts that the creators will earn for these maps are relatively small. Generally, 5v5 maps will bring the authors around $50,000 during their time in the game, while 2v2 maps will earn around $20,000."
Blogger MoreGames added that on average, community maps are available for play for about five months, and even if they stayed in the game for a year, their authors would still not receive the amount Valve paid for Anubis and Tuscan.
It is worth noting that the developers introduced several new maps to Counter-Strike 2 in today's patch. Thera and Mills were added to the "Competitive", "Casual", and "Deathmatch" modes; Memento and Assembly appeared in the "Wingman" mode; and Pool Day is now available in "Arms Race".
