GamerLegion coach: "We want to build a team for the future"

The coach of GamerLegion's Counter-Strike 2 team, Ashley "ash" Batty, commented on Jan "Snax" Pogorzelski's departure from the team – the Polish eSports player recently transferred to G2. In an interview with HLTV.org, Batty admitted that this was an unexpected decision and explained why Snax accepted the offer from G2.

"It was unexpected. We were already making plans for the next period.

Snax was sometimes very frustrated with the decision-making within this team. He feels that he doesn't have many years left in the game and doesn't want to spend too much time playing with players who still need to learn, even if they are already playing at quite a high level.

This was an opportunity he wanted to seize, and when the offer from G2 came in, everything was already decided. I think Snax can be a great acquisition for G2 because it's a team where he would be motivated to play at this stage of his career."

Ash also mentioned the signing of a new captain – former Metizport player Erik "ztr" Gustafsson. According to the coach, from now on, the team will start working with a long-term perspective and stop constantly selling players.

"When we signed neaLaN, ztr was a player we wanted to get, but at that time, his buyout was just unrealistic. ztr meets many of our criteria for motivated players who want to be here, and I think his leadership style is very similar to what siuhy did. He has a clear vision of how he wants to play, and it suits our players.

Now we have this vision. If we can't attract top players with the biggest reputations, we'll take promising players who want to be here and try to develop them as much as possible. We want to build a team for the future and not be an organisation that simply sells players when an offer comes in."

The revamped GamerLegion roster will debut at the upcoming BLAST Premier Fall Groups LAN tournament, which kicks off at the end of July in Copenhagen, Denmark.
