Dataminer Maxim "Gabe Follower" Poletaev reflected on why today's update, which added community maps to Counter-Strike 2, did not meet the expectations of the community, which was hoping for a new operation. Gabe Follower shared his thoughts in a YouTube video.
"I think many of you are asking this question [where is the operation?], but in fact, no one promised it to us. And even today's update wasn't promised. It was just a series of fortunate discoveries and leaks that looked very nice together, especially in honour of the 25th anniversary of the Counter-Strike franchise. <…>
Considering they have already launched a new rotation, we shouldn't expect any updates for at least the next three months. And I want to remind you that from the first leaks to the full release of Danger Zone, it took almost three years."
Insider and scout Alexey "OverDrive" Biryukov expressed a similar viewpoint on his Telegram channel regarding the timing of the highly anticipated new operation in Counter-Strike.
"I said that nothing would happen in June... To be honest, I doubt anything will happen over the summer. What's the point – it's the time of the lowest online activity."
Poletaev also listed things currently in development at Valve that have been discovered through leaks and findings in the Counter-Strike 2 files. The list includes a new operation, comics, a cooperative mode, new types of weapons, the return of Danger Zone, new skins, charms, agent customisation options, and much more.
