Former Cloud9 analyst Ivan "F_1N" Kochugov reviewed the recent championship in Abu Dhabi. In a comment to the Metaratings portal, Kochugov stated that he was not surprised by The MongolZ's victory in the tournament. In his opinion, the Mongolian team has a good chance of becoming a full-fledged Tier-1 team.
"The MongolZ deserved to win. This has been a long time coming. BetBoom Team was a pleasant surprise. The MongolZ didn’t surprise me. I think they can become a Tier-1 team. They have very strong shooters, and a good team structure, and all of them are young. What more do you need?"
Dmitry "spirit" Veko, the sports director of the organization 9Pandas, also shared his thoughts. He admitted that he has been a fan of The MongolZ for a long time and called the team’s triumph at YaLLa Compass 2024 a well-deserved result.
"The MongolZ have been making their presence known to viewers for a while. Honestly, I like the team; I enjoy seeing their progress from tournament to tournament. Since IEM Katowice 2024, I’ve felt that the team is growing, and judging by the results, that’s true. They shoot hard, which compensates for their macro deficiencies. Overall, I’m happy for them and consider their victory a well-deserved result of quality work. My friends know I support them in every tournament. I like that The MongolZ, being underdogs, can surprise anyone. I hope they continue to get stronger."
YaLLa Compass 2024 took place from June 5 to 9 in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. The total prize pool for the event was $400,000. In the final, The MongolZ defeated NIP with a score of 2-1. The team’s sniper, Usukhbayar "910" Banzragch, was named the best player of the tournament.
