Drop commented on MIBR's victory, "I was confident we would defeat M80"

After a decisive victory over the North American team M80 at ESL Pro League S20, MIBR captain André “drop” Abreu shared his reflections. He mentioned that he felt confident about his team's success even before the match commenced. What instilled such confidence in the Brazilians?

The interest in this event lies not only in the victory itself, but also in the team's overall morale, which was at an all-time high. Drop revealed that after their previous win, he had jokingly mentioned reaching the semi-finals. While some teammates cautioned him not to get ahead of himself, the captain reassured them by expressing his faith in the upcoming victory.

MIBR progressed to the quarter-finals of ESL Pro League S20, where they faced M80. André “drop” Abreu stated that following their last win, he felt assured they would advance. The atmosphere within the team was positive, and despite the banter, everyone understood their capability to win. The Brazilian squad delivered a formidable performance, particularly on the Anubis map, where Rafael “saffee” Costa played a pivotal role.

MIBR triumphed over M80 with a 2-0 scoreline, securing their place in the semi-finals. One standout performer on the first map was Rafael “saffee” Costa, who achieved remarkable statistics on Anubis, registering 28 kills with just 2 deaths. Drop remarked that he hadn’t immediately realised saffee's impact until he was informed during the break about his teammate's dominance on the server.

According to the captain, saffee's form reminded him of his best performances with paiN. Drop acknowledged that he didn't even need to provide explicit instructions, as saffee had an excellent sense of the game and instinctively knew how to proceed. This match represented a significant step for MIBR in their pursuit of the semi-finals.

Drop also noted that saffee feels particularly at ease when playing against North American teams. His understanding of their style and his ability to make quick decisions proved to be vital in MIBR's victory. “He knows what to do and where to be,” the captain added, comparing saffee's gameplay to donk, who similarly displays exceptional intuition.
