Donk: "We need to do well in the next 4 or 5 tournaments"

Danil "donk" Kryshkovets from Team Spirit stated that the victory at the BetBoom Dacha Belgrade Season 2 in Serbia did not fully redeem the team following their disappointing performance at IEM Cologne 2024. He shared his thoughts on this matter in an interview with HLTV.org.

“To some extent, yes [we have redeemed ourselves]. We managed to defeat MOUZ, who had beaten us previously and whom we hadn’t been able to overcome for a while. That’s nice; it definitely boosted our morale.

But it’s hard to say that this redeems us for that result. Cologne is held once a year, and it’s a very prestigious tournament. To truly redeem ourselves from such a loss, we need to perform well in four or five upcoming tournaments. Winning this tournament is great, but I’m still disappointed about Cologne. <…>

Honestly, we didn’t have any issues with our gameplay in Cologne. The only problem was that we couldn’t showcase [our game]. We simply couldn’t play the way we had trained, and that was the main issue. We were more focused on internal problems and what was happening within the team.”

Kryshkovets also mentioned that he tries not to think about MVP titles and the race for the best player of 2024 in Counter-Strike 2.

“It would be nice to be the best player in the world, but I understand that, first and foremost, we need to perform well as a team. Poor team results will not allow you to become the best player; it’s impossible. I’m more focused on performing well as a team and enjoying playing together. But I try not to think about it and not pay attention to it; I just want to enjoy playing with these guys.”

It’s worth noting that donk was named the best player of the recently concluded BetBoom Dacha Belgrade Season 2 by HLTV.org. This is his fifth MVP title in his career.
