Cloud9 has withdrawn from the upcoming BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024 championship, which is set to begin in just one week. The North American club won't have completed the process of forming a new roster by the tournament's start.
The tournament organizers made this announcement on social media, promising to announce a replacement for Cloud9 soon. The club's management provided the following statement:
"We respect our fans and can only participate in events with full commitment and diligence. That's our priority. Unfortunately, we're still in the process of rebuilding our roster. Considering this, we've decided not to compete until our roster is fully formed. We miss competing, but right now we should focus on finalizing our lineup."
Recall that Cloud9 is currently undergoing roster reconstruction. Denis "electroNic" Sharipov was the first to leave the team in April; a few days later, Abay "HObbit" Hasenov and Ilya "Perfecto" Zalutsky were benched.
BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024 will take place from May 14th to May 19th in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. The championship participants will compete for half a million dollars in prize money. Recently, the organizers announced the seeding of teams in the group stage.
