Bubzkj: "They did everything they could without spending huge amounts of money"

Esports commentator and former professional player Lukas "Bubzkji" Andersen shared his thoughts on the new Liquid roster for Counter-Strike 2. In an interview with the organisers of BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2024, the Danish analyst noted that while the club had better options, they would have required a significantly larger investment.

"They did everything they could without spending huge amounts of money.

Jks gave them a chance to participate in the North American RMR, and ultimate was a decent option in a lackluster sniper market.

Of course, players like zorte, hades, sl3nd, and MartinezSA would likely have been better, but spending large sums on unproven or slightly above-average talents wouldn’t be a good short-term decision."

Bubzkji also commented on the transition of Russell "Twistzz" Van Dulken to the role of team captain. Andersen believes that evaluating the Canadian’s capabilities will take some time.

"In the short term, I have no concerns; I think many people sometimes overestimate the challenges of the captain role in game situations. If you have the right elements and concepts, it can work in the short term.

The real challenges arise in the long term, when you need to develop a play style, constantly innovate, and lead – that’s where the true difficulties come into play."

As a reminder, at the end of June this year, Wilton "zews" Prado was removed from his position as Liquid’s coach, and Torbjørn "mithR" Nyborg was brought in as his replacement. The team also signed Justin "jks" Savage and Roland "ultimate" Tomkovjak, who replaced Kasper "cadiaN" Møller and Felipe "skullz" Medeiros.
