BC.Game disqualified from three tournaments

Swedish esports player Joel "joel" Holmlund, representing BC.Game, was banned by the Akros anti-cheat during an official match against B8 in the online tournament CCT Season 2 Europe Series 7.

The 19-year-old was banned immediately after entering the server. Initially, the organisers allowed the team to continue the match with a stand-in, but after the first map, they reversed their decision and disqualified the team from the championship.

Tournament operator GRID, responsible for running the CCT series tournaments, confirmed the ban and told HLTV there was no reason to believe the ban was a false positive. However, the organisers did not specify the exact reason for the ban. The club still needs to comment on the situation.

Shortly after, BC.Game's roster was also suspended from participating in two other competitions – United21 and the European Pro League.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time Joel has been involved in a scandal. In August last year, the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) banned the player due to suspicions of match-fixing. The ban was lifted in January 2024 due to "lack of compelling evidence." Despite his tarnished reputation, BC.Game took a risk and gave the Swede a chance.

The BC.Game roster was formed at the end of June this year under the leadership of coach Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács, who had not competed on the professional Counter-Strike scene since 2022.
