A data miner found out how the new gameplay recording feature affects FPS in CS2
On June 26, Valve officially introduced to the community a new gameplay recording system, available for free on Steam and currently in beta testing.
Thour, a well-known data miner, tested the new feature in Counter-Strike 2 to determine its impact on computer resources during operation. Before activating the recording, CS2 ran on his system at 372 frames per second (FPS). After enabling the feature, FPS dropped by approximately 6% to 350 FPS. Additionally, the time required to render one frame increased from 2.7 ms to 2.9 ms.
Thour himself believes that the high quality of recording and the user-friendliness of the new feature justify the minor frame rate loss during gameplay.
