The Counter-Strike map creators community, Mapcore, has announced the launch of a contest with a total prize pool of $15,000. To participate, contestants need to develop a new competitive bomb defusal map for CS2.
The contest will run throughout the current year, with the winner being determined on May 5, 2025. Applications are open until August 4, after which selected participants will begin refining their maps.
Each participant will be allocated their server on the FACEIT platform, which is partnering with Mapcore. Maps will be judged based on design, originality, and technical execution.
Heading the judging panel to determine the winner will be renowned map developer Sean "FMPONE" Snelling. Among the invited experts are Anders "Anders" Blume, Daniel "ddk" Kapadia, Eric "fl0m" Flom, James "BARDOLPH" Bardolph, Mohan "launders" Govindasamy, Alex "Mauisnake" Ellenberg, and Conner "Scrawny" Girvan.
It's worth noting that a similar contest previously resulted in the creation of Anubis. Today, this map is one of the most popular in CS2 and is included in the competitive map pool.
