Organizations in the Esports Industry That Should Make a Comeback in CS2

In the realm of Counter-Strike, entities emerge and fade away. Occasionally, they make a return appearance. It's a dynamic industry where only the most intelligent individuals can succeed. In the past, we have witnessed numerous large corporations venture into the field of computer science, only to move on to different endeavors eventually. We are examining a number of these organizations and identifying the ones that ought to make a comeback in the CS2 scene.

Apeks

Apeks recently departed from CS2, making the decision to transfer their entire roster and temporarily suspending the overall division. Ever since the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023, the team has left a lasting impression on the scene. However, it is disheartening to witness their current struggle to maintain that same level of performance. We anticipate Apeks making a comeback to CS2 in due course, but we will feel their absence in the interim. They have made a positive impact at events throughout the past year, so we are optimistic that they will be able to resolve their issues.

Luminosity Gaming

The period from 2015 to 2019 will always be remembered as a significant era for Luminosity Gaming in the world of CS:GO. Their dedication to the Brazilian scene yielded great results, as they emerged victorious in a CS:GO Major at MLG Major Columbus 2016. Icons such as FalleN, fer, fnx, and coldzera all proudly represented the organization, showcasing their distinctive style of CS and bringing immense glory. It's unfortunate to witness a Major-winning organization being absent from the game for such a prolonged period, and we sincerely hope to witness their return in some capacity.

 OpTic Gaming

OpTic Gaming is likely the largest esports organization that currently needs a CS2 team in their roster. Although it is primarily recognized for its contributions to Call of Duty, the organization had a plethora of exceptional players in its CS:GO lineups from 2016 to 2019. Players from North America, such as Stanislaw, NAF, tarik, and RUSH, previously represented OpTic Gaming in CS:GO, but later, the team shifted its focus to Danish players, including TeSeS, Snappi, k0nfig, and Niko. And let's remember Friberg's tenure with the team as well! OpTic has even managed to qualify for several Majors throughout their tenure in CS:GO, and it would be fascinating to witness their triumphant comeback in CS2.

Immortals

You may be more acquainted with the Immortals' League of Legends team, but that's perfectly fine. The memory of Immortals' time in CS:GO from mid-2016 to late 2017, with notable Brazilian players such as HEN1 and fnx, remains deeply ingrained in the minds of fans. Although their time in the game was brief, they achieved an impressive feat by making it to the Final of the PGL Major Krakow 2017, a milestone that eludes many organizations. If Immortals possesses the necessary means, revisiting CS2 is a fascinating decision for the team.

100 Thieves

100 Thieves, like many other prominent organizations, has yet to fully capitalize on the potential of counter-attacks. In previous times, it had two distinct CS:GO lineups: one composed of Brazilian players such as HEN1 and LUCAS1, and another predominantly Australian team including jks and Jam. 100 Thieves has had a number of talented players in the past. Still, the organization has never fully dedicated itself to the scene, constantly fluctuating between involvement and disengagement from 2017 to 2020. With the available resources, the 100 Thieves organization has the potential to make a strong comeback in CS2. If they manage to assemble the perfect roster, they could become a formidable force.

SK Gaming

SK Gaming acquired the renowned Luminosity roster we previously mentioned, initiating a highly prosperous phase of its own. SK Gaming has achieved numerous trophies in CS:GO, and it also boasts a rich history in CS 1.6. It's often overlooked, but prior to the arrival of the Brazilians, SK Gaming had a roster of Danish players, including  Magisk, Pimp, k0nfig, and cadiaN representing the team. SK Gaming departed from CS in 2018. However, the game has undergone significant changes since then (quite literally, with the introduction of CS2). Should this iconic CS organization make a comeback in CS2? Maybe.

Dignitas

Dignitas had teams in CS 1.6, Source, and CS:GO, and was also the place where the now-famous trio of Dupree, Xyp9x, and dev1ce first came together and made their mark. The rich legacy of Dignitas establishes its rightful place in the realm of Counter-Strike. Although they departed from the scene in 2022, we eagerly anticipate their return and the possibility of them rejoining for CS2. Although they didn't secure any significant victories in their initial attempts, it is evident that  Dignitas possesses the necessary means to assemble a successful team in  CS2.

Rogue

These days, it's likely that you're more acquainted with the League of Legends lineup of Rogue. Nevertheless, between 2016 and 2019, Rogue was active in the realm of CS:GO. Although it didn't achieve the highest level of success, it indeed housed notable players such as cadiaN, Niko, MSL, and Hiko during its time in the game. Rogue is a prominent esports organization, and there is definitely an opportunity for it to make a comeback in CS2. This is the kind of organization that could greatly profit from embracing a national identity and expanding its CS2 fan base from that point.
